Pulp
We asked you to make some noise –
& you did.
So, the encore continues.
The songs came back to life & they want to be heard.
They need to be heard.
Again & again.
Now more than ever.
To keep us warm.
To help us remember what the point is.
Come out & have some fun with us this summer (& fall).
You deserve it.
Yes.
You do.
Some Facts
Jarvis Cocker formed PULP during an Economics lesson at school in Sheffield in 1978.
Their first public appearance was at Rotherham Arts Centre on the 5th July 1980.
A John Peel session in 1981 produced the first recordings by the band to be heard by the public.
The “classic” line-up of the band (Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior) came together in 1988 when Jarvis moved to London to study film-making at St Martin’s School of Art.
Mark Webber (who had been working as the band’s tour manager) joined PULP during the recording of the album “Different Class” in 1995.
PULP’s last album (to date) “We Love Life” was produced by Scott Walker in 2001.
PULP’s last concert in North America was at the Fox Theatre in Pomona on April 19th 2012 (they played the Coachella Festival the following day).
PULP’s bass player, Steve Mackey, passed away on the 2nd March 2023. The current “This is What We Do For An Encore” tour has become dedicated to his memory.
